What should a glass packaging RFQ include? Send the container reference or drawing, nominal fill capacity, neck and closure requirements, quantity per size and finish, decoration, destination and required delivery date. Ask the quote to confirm specifications, MOQ, samples, lead time, packing and what the price includes.
A request for quotation (RFQ) helps a supplier price the same pack you intend to buy. Use this checklist for perfume bottles, cosmetic jars, candle jars, food containers or essential oil packaging. If a detail is undecided, write “please recommend” and describe the application.
1. Define the container and closure
Begin with a product reference, a drawing or a reference photo. Give the nominal fill and units, then identify any fixed dimensions and the closure or filling equipment that the pack must fit. A visual reference describes appearance; approved samples and specifications define the item to be supplied.
| Requirement | What to include |
|---|---|
| Container | Product reference or drawing, bottle or jar shape, nominal fill capacity and any required dimensions. |
| Neck and closure | Neck specification or matching component; sprayer, pump, dropper, cap or lid; any collar, liner or insert requirements. |
| Glass and appearance | Glass color, surface finish and the appearance reference you want to approve. |
| Application | Product type, filling process and the compatibility or dispensing checks you need to perform. |
| Quantity | Units for each design, size, glass color and decoration option; repeat-order expectations if known. |
| Decoration | Artwork, method, print colors, positions and any color reference. Identify individual boxes or other retail packaging. |
| Delivery | Destination country and city or port, required arrival date, packing needs and preferred quotation basis if known. |
2. Separate design, decoration and MOQ
An existing shape with your decoration and a completely new glass shape are different development scopes. Identify which route you need. For a new shape, send the target capacity, drawing or reference and the closure requirements for a feasibility discussion.
MOQ must be confirmed for the actual design, color, closure and decoration combination. A total project quantity may be split across several variants. Ask for the minimum and unit price for each quoted variant, and identify any tooling, decoration setup, sampling or packing charges separately.
Kingwell does not publish a single MOQ or fixed production lead time for every product. The selected specifications, quantity and project scope must be reviewed in the quote.
3. Agree what the sample must prove
State what you need to evaluate: container dimensions, closure fit, dispensing, appearance, decoration or filling-line fit. Test the selected assembly with your product and process, and agree which sample and written specifications will be used for production approval.
- Identify the bottle or jar and every closure component included in the sample.
- Clarify whether the sample shows the final color and decoration or is for structural evaluation.
- Confirm sample arrangements and any charges before dispatch.
- Record any dimensions, appearance limits, testing or documentation required for your application and destination.
4. Compare quotes on the same basis
Confirm whether a price covers the container alone or the complete pack. Compare the same quantity, decoration, accessories and packing. Check currency, quote validity, shipment terms and transport responsibilities alongside the unit price.
| Ask the quote to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Included components | Containers, closures, decoration and retail or export packing may be quoted separately. |
| MOQ and quantity basis | Check the minimum and quoted quantity for each size, color and finish. |
| One-off charges | Identify tooling, setup and sampling charges where applicable. |
| Lead-time starting point | Confirm the production window and its conditions, including specification, artwork and sample approval. Distinguish production time from transit time. |
| Quality and delivery | Agree the approved specification, inspection scope, packing and shipment terms before ordering. |
Common purchasing questions
Can I request a quote before every specification is decided?
Yes. Send the application, reference image or product link, target fill capacity, estimated quantity and destination. Mark open decisions as “please recommend” so the discussion can identify suitable options before a final quote is confirmed.
Do I need a new mold to put my logo on glass packaging?
A new glass shape and decoration on an existing design are separate requests. Tell us the shape and finish you want. The team can review whether an existing design and available decoration methods suit the project, or whether custom development needs to be discussed.
Can bottles and closures be included in one inquiry?
Yes. Include the bottle or jar reference together with the required sprayer, pump, dropper, cap or lid. Request a sample of the complete assembly so you can evaluate fit and use before approval.
